Over Mother’s Day weekend, friends and neighbors flocked to Community Park for the annual Celebrate ��ԭ�� event. At the same time, the UC ��ԭ�� Quad was packed for the Whole Earth Festival. All of this would’ve seemed impossible just a few weeks ago, when tragedies gripped our city. Each passing day is another step toward recovery.

Day of Reflection Will Focus on Grief, Connections, Hope

Statement Following ��ԭ�� Police Department Briefing

UC ��ԭ�� issued the following statement today (May 4):

UC ��ԭ�� learned that the city of ��ԭ�� police, UC ��ԭ�� police and the FBI have identified and arrested a suspect in all three stabbing incidents. The person has been identified as Carlos Reales Dominguez. Reales Dominguez was in his third year at UC ��ԭ�� until April 25, 2023, when he was separated for academic reasons.

So, I planned to begin this column with a nod to the many challenges we have faced in recent years, both as a community and as a nation, and the toll these challenges have taken on our collective mental health. That was before the past week’s horrific crimes, which have deeply impacted our entire community and shaken our sense of safety and well-being.

Nighttime Instruction Goes Remote

The ��ԭ�� campus is pivoting to remote instruction at nighttime, starting today (May 2) as a temporary modification, approved and mandated by the Executive Council of the ��ԭ�� Division of the Academic Senate earlier this afternoon.
