The apartment vacancy rate in the city of ��ԭ�� eased to 4.0%, according to a fall 2024 survey.

The popular restaurant and market Latitude turns five this month, and a delicious celebration is in order.

The campus community is invited for a special menu to be served during lunch (10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.) and dinner (4:30-8 p.m.) on Wednesday, Jan. 15. Arrive early for first-come, first-served swag giveaways and more during the lunch hour celebrations.

Roger Thompson clapped his hands together. “You’ve got two hours to open. Let’s get to it.”

“Yes, Chef!” Andrea Rivera replied. She turned to a class visitor and whispered: “That’s so they know we heard them, and it’s fun too.”

And with that, Rivera and five other food service workers left their classroom space at dining tables in Latitude and headed toward the dining facility’s kitchen on their way to becoming cooks at UC ��ԭ��.

Survey: ��ԭ�� Apartment Vacancy Rate Improves Substantially

Spurred by the construction of hundreds of new apartment units on the UC ��ԭ�� campus, the apartment vacancy rate in the city of ��ԭ�� has increased substantially, while monthly rents have increased more modestly.

A survey report released today (Feb. 1) shows a 3.0% blended vacancy rate — including apartments leased by the unit and by the bed — which is significantly higher than the 0.5% rate for fall 2022. Rents increased by a combined average of 1.8%.

Alum Martin Yan Shares Cooking Tips, Diverse Flavors

When Martin Yan arrived in ��ԭ�� as an international student in 1969, the minimum wage in California was just $1.65, but he discovered teaching a UC ��ԭ�� extension course on Chinese cooking could yield $18 an hour. He said he implored the director: “Give me a chance to teach a course.”

Martin Yan To Be Guest Chef on Campus

AggieEats is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays when classes are held, and rotates among four locations: East Quad, Student Health and Wellness Center, Storer Hall and West Village.
