Staff: Volunteer to Help Commencement Run Smoothly

To ensure that Spring Commencement runs smoothly at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento this June, organizers are inviting staff members to participate as commencement ambassadors and serve in a variety of capacities.

AVAILABLE SHIFTS

Ambassadors must be available to work a minimum of one five-hour shift and attend a virtual training session on May 14.

  • Friday, June 13: 8 a.m.-1 p.m., 1 p.m.-6 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 14: 8 a.m.-1 p.m., 1 p.m.-6 p.m.
  • Sunday, June 15: 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Ambassadors play a key role in welcoming and assisting graduates, guests, faculty and the stage party, helping to create a smooth and celebratory experience for all.

Registered ambassadors will receive a $75 gift card, along with a commencement T-shirt, name tag, food and beverages, as well as complimentary parking in a preferred lot near Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. No compensatory time or overtime will be provided to volunteers for their service apart from the rewards mentioned above.

Roles are described on the , and volunteers may choose their preferred assignment. To prepare for their roles, ambassadors will receive their assignments, learn about their duties and participate in orientation and training two weeks before the ceremonies. Ambassadors must be available to work a minimum of one five-hour shift and attend a virtual training session on May 14 from noon-1 p.m.

Spots are limited and expected to fill up fast. is open now and will close on May 9.
