May 20, 2 p.m. — In addition to testing individuals, testing wastewater for COVID-19 is another way to track the pandemic. How does wastewater testing work? What can it tell us about the pandemic, and how is it being applied in the º£½ÇÔ´´ community?
Joining us this week are two of the people bringing wastewater testing to º£½ÇÔ´´ as part of the Healthy º£½ÇÔ´´ Together initiative.
- Heather Bischel is an assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC º£½ÇÔ´´. She studies sustainable sanitation and environmental contaminants in water. Her lab set up COVID-19 testing in wastewater first on the UC º£½ÇÔ´´ campus and now in the city of º£½ÇÔ´´.
- Stan Gryczko is director of public works, utilities and operations for the city of º£½ÇÔ´´. As such, he is responsible for implementing wastewater testing through the Healthy º£½ÇÔ´´ Together program.
The conversation, hosted by Soterios Johnson, will be streamed live on , and beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 20.
